Thursday was National School Resource Officer Day and Peterstown PK-8 would like to take a moment to recognize our SRO, Officer Jeffries. Officer Jeffries is a wonderful asset to our school. Congrats to Mrs. McGlothlin’s class at PES on completing their attendance potato head. They have had 10 days of perfect classroom attendance!
Mrs. Meadows’ class learned all about good manners and being courteous at their Ladies and Gentlemen Valentine’s Day party. The young men escorted each young lady to their seat and pulled it out for them. The young ladies said thank you and then everyone enjoyed some treats while practicing using their manners.
Cleaning out your closet? The Communities in Schools program at James Monroe High School is collecting any graduation robes (from past years) for reuse, gently used prom dresses, and reusable water bottles, all for student use. Monday, February 19th is a professional learning day and there will be no school for students.
Peterstown Middle School had two students whose project went to the Regional Science Fair. Kendall Long and Bella Dillon's project, "The Candle Race" won 1st place in their category and they will go on to compete in the State Science Fair in March. Kendall did an amazing job presenting at the regional fair. Congratulations, ladies!
As we celebrate Counselors Appreciation Week, James Monroe High School want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the support, guidance, and dedication our counselors, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Perdue bring to our students.
Their tireless efforts to provide valuable insights, encouragement, and assistance have not gone unnoticed. Whether is navigating the college application process or addressing various challenges that arise during the school year, they consistently demonstrate a remarkable commitment to the personal and academic growth of our students.
We hope they had a wonderful Counselor Appreciation week!
7th Grade Earth Science students learned about topography maps and elevation by creating their own clay mountains and using dental floss to cut out different elevations. They used these levels to draw their own topography map showing the elevation of their mountain .
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, students participated in WVU STEAM TAC activities that involved building a simulated earthquake “shake” table, programming microbits with a coding program, and designing a structure that would withstand a level 4 earthquake. Students were completely engaged in the activity and really seemed to enjoy it.
