Congratulations to the James Monroe Academic Showdown team! They placed first in the Regional Tournament at Concord University! They will compete at the state tournament on March 31st in Charleston.

8th grade science students at PMS tested out some engineering skills by constructing newspaper towers. They had to stand up to winds from a high velocity fan.

PES had a Friday surprise this morning for breakfast. They had hot chocolate and it was delicious.

Ashley William's homeroom started building their first LEGO robot using the Spike Prime and Spike Essentials kits. They worked in 4 groups with about 5 students in each. Each group got to pick which robot/model project they wanted to build. They followed the step-by-step instructions to build the model. The motor connects by Bluetooth to the Chromebook, and they use block coding to control it. These Legos were a grant from Collins Aerospace,

We are always helping students work toward building their future. Mrs. Annette job trained our new secretary for PES today. Kade is going to do great things!

MCTC Therapeutic Services HOSA students sold chocolate dipped strawberries for a Valentine’s Day fundraiser. The money earned will support the chapter’s travels to competitions and events.

MCTC’s Agriculture department has been busy refurbishing farm equipment, hosting FFA meetings and even building a funnel tree. What’s a funnel tree? It sits in a bucket and allows funnels to drain clean while excess oils collects in the bucket. It keeps the shop cleaner and makes convenient funnel storage.

The faculty, staff and students of Peterstown Middle School are excited to honor Mrs. Tami Brown as we celebrate National School Counselor’s Week. Mrs. Brown works diligently to ensure that students are prepared to be successful academically as well as emotionally. She advocates for students, prepares them for their future and is a confidant to many. Many will utilize her daily advice of “make good choices” throughout life. Her smile and laugh are contagious. Her words and hugs are sincere.
Mrs. Brown, thank you for all you do for the students, the staff, and Monroe County as a whole. You are truly an amazing counselor and friend to many. PMS loves you and should celebrate you everyday!

February 6-10 is National School Counselor week and we will be recognizing the wonderful counselors from each of our buildings. We will begin with PES counselor Regina Spencer. Regina Spencer has been the school counselor at Peterstown Elementary School for five years. Before becoming a school counselor she was a classroom teacher at Peterstown Elementary School. Regina comes in everyday with a positive attitude and is ready to help students any way she can. She works diligently to help make sure student's needs are meet and to help all students at Peterstown Elementary. She is a true asset to our school. Regina proactively helps students by teaching lessons in the classroom on positive behavior and being a leader. She works to instill life lessons in our students that they can carry with them as they go forward in their educational career. Regina's influence and impact is invaluable. She is a wonderful colleague who is always ready to help by going above and beyond what is asked of her. We appreciate all she does each and every day.
