Every day matters. Regular attendance is very important to the academic progress of students. There is a direct relation between a student's daily school attendance and academic performance, work habits, and graduation. In the case your child does miss school, Monroe County Schools now has a convenient online form for submitting attendance excuses. The QR code on the calendar magnet sent home will direct you to the page https://www.boe.monroe.k12.wv.us/forms for turning these in to your child's school. You will need to enter your child's full WVEIS lunch number in order to submit the excuse. If you aren't sure of what that number is, please contact the school, and they can provide it for you.

In a combined effort of the JMTC Carpentry and Law and Public Safety Classes, an honor wall, of first responder patches, was developed and created as a class project.  "This Honor Wall was made possible by donations from Men and Women around the state, nation, world and the Sheriff of Monroe County, Sheriff Michael J. Heller."  We are extremely thankful for the donations and hard work each student and teacher has put in to make this wall possible.

Students from Mr. Hill's Animal Science classes visited the Willow Bend farm yesterday and participated in vaccinations, castrations, and pregnancy checks, finishing the day with ewe ultrasounding. This was a wonderful opportunity to get hands-on experience and to cap off a great year in animal science class!

Sheriff Heller donated an older police cruiser to the James Monroe Technical Center’s Law and Public Safety Program. This vehicle will be used for classroom lab purposes and assist with students having a deeper understanding of law enforcement procedures. We appreciate the Sheriff’s support in our program and belief in preparing our next generation!

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week completers in Mr. Hill's Livestock Management courses participated in a two day Animal Reproduction course at the Willow Bend Agricultural Innovation Center. Over the course of those two days they learned about artificial insemination and reproductive physiology as well as bull and ram selection and pairing using progeny data. This was a fantastic two days full of learning and hands on activities that will prepare our students to enter the animal science fields and university pathways. Monroe County students were joined by students from Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West along with their advisors and the course was taught by extension Agents Josh Peplowski and Brian Wickline. Special thanks to Ty Judy, Farm Manager for setting up and providing the space.
